What will you do as Quality Engineer?
At Big Ass Battery quality is not a spreadsheet party or ISO bingo night. We’re not looking for a paper tiger with a binder full of checklists. We want a Quality Engineer with real voltage — someone who knows when to use an 8D, and when a good old-fashioned “fix it now” approach works better. You’ll be dropped into a world full of sparks (the good ones): pragmatic engineers, badass batteries and a fast-growing company in an even faster maturing market. We need processes. Structure. Not too much, keep it flexible and scalable. But above all, someone who doesn’t blink at chaos but simply gets sh*t done. You're our internal quality multimeter — reliable, and full of juice. You'll be:
- Define and implement fit-for-purpose quality processes tailored to a high-growth tech environment — no corporate fluff
- Using 8D, Cp/Cpk, 5 Whys, FMEA — or just common sense if that works faster
- Running yield, scrap and defect analysis. You know “first time right” isn’t a fairy tale — it’s an objective
- Keeping suppliers sharp. You understand their processes, challenge their data, and raise their bar
- Creating dashboards (Google Sheets, Power BI, duct tape — whatever works) that make quality status visible to all
- Set and monitor outgoing quality levels that meet or exceed customer expectations
- Ensure alignment and ownership around quality from warehousing to customer delivery
- Guide internal teams through expectation management, clear communication, and hands-on coaching
What do we expect you will bring to Big Ass Battery?
You’re not just detail-oriented — you’re detail-obsessed in a charmingly unhinged way. You see a misaligned label from across the room and twitch. But you're not annoyed by it — you fix it, smile, and move on. You believe a good root cause analysis is better than therapy. You’re allergic to bureaucracy, but you love structure — as long as it works. You don’t build quality systems to tick boxes; you build them so things stop breaking. And when they do break, you’ve already got the fix halfway implemented before anyone else accepts their meeting invite. You bring tech-savvy, common sense, and a sense of humor. Last but not least; you’ve got a get-sh*t-done chip built in, but you still appreciate a good Pareto chart or a fishbone diagram when the situation demands it. Next to this personality you have:
- A Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics or an equivalent level of gained technical experience
- A charged brain loaded with know-how: 8D, Cp/Cpk, 5 Whys, FMEA — you speak fluent quality, tech ánd human (Dutch & English)
- A proven track record in setting things up from scratch: procedures, metrics and dashboards
- Experience in quality related Lean methods and internal auditing
- Experience in supplier quality and external auditing
- At least Six Sigma Yellow Belt-certification but Green Belt gives you a head-start
- You believe chaos is fun — until it messes with quality. ISO 9001 is your safety net
- Affinity with mechanical stuff — our batteries have a shell too, and it should fit, breathe, and survive being dropped
- A pragmatic mindset: theory is your toolkit, not your religion
- Willingness to travel occasionally to key suppliers
- Availability for 40 hours per week
