Why this role matters 

As a Senior Software Engineer I (.NET), you will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable, robust, and secure backend services that power our applications. Using your deep expertise in C# and .NET technologies, you will contribute to designing efficient solutions, ensuring system reliability, and driving development best practices. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in solving backend challenges and is eager to make an impact on critical systems from day one. 

 What success looks like 

In your first year, you will: 

• Deliver reliable backend services and APIs built on .NET Framework (4.0+) and .NET Core. 

• Actively contribute to system design discussions and own the implementation of backend components. 

• Write comprehensive unit tests using frameworks like NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest, ensuring code quality and maintainability. 

• Improve system performance through profiling, optimising queries, and resolving bottlenecks. 

• Collaborate closely with frontend, product, and QA teams to deliver seamless features. 

 Key Responsibilities 

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs in .NET (C#). 

• Implement scalable and high-performance solutions following microservices and RESTful API principles. 

• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code correctness and reliability. 

• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions. 

• Optimise database schemas and queries for high availability and performance. 

• Apply CI/CD practices, ensuring smooth release pipelines. 

• Contribute to code reviews, knowledge sharing, and maintaining engineering best practices. 

• Implement monitoring, logging, and error handling to ensure production stability. 

• Stay current with backend and .NET ecosystem advancements. 

 Qualifications & Attributes 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 

• 8+ years of professional experience in backend software development using C#. 

• Strong hands-on experience with .NET Framework (4.0+) and .NET Core. 

• Proven experience writing unit tests using testing frameworks such as NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest. 

• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems basics. 

• Strong database experience with relational (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and optional NoSQL databases. 

• Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS/GCP a plus). 

• Exposure to containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes) for deployment and environment consistency. 

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git). 

• Knowledge of implementing backend security best practices. 

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in collaborative, Agile teams. 

• Nice to have: Hands-on development experience with Java Spring Boot.
