Our Energy Source practice is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to join the team.

Energy Source is a new venture being built within Baringa Partners, focused on solving one of the most complex and commercially critical challenges in the energy transition: how large energy users manage and navigate their power price and risk position.

We are building a data and analytics platform that helps industrials, infrastructure investors, and large commercial consumers make better decisions on power procurement—across corporate PPAs (cPPAs), on-site generation, and broader energy strategy.

This is not a traditional consulting offer. Energy Source is being developed as a scalable, product-led business—combining Baringa’s deep market, technical and regulatory expertise with modern data infrastructure and AI-enabled insight.

We are at an early stage of that journey. The product is live, the market need is clear, and demand is growing—but how we scale commercially is still being defined.

Joining now means helping build that engine.

About the Team

Energy Source sits within Baringa’s market-leading Power & Low Carbon Solutions (PLCS) practice.

The PLCS team works across the full energy value chain—utilities, developers, investors, corporates, and policymakers—supporting the development of projects, deployment of capital, and optimisation of value across renewables, storage, clean molecules, and low carbon infrastructure.

Energy Source builds on that foundation—but shifts from advisory delivery to scalable, repeatable, product-driven solutions.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to drive new customer growth for Energy Source.

You will focus on large energy users—industrials, infrastructure, real estate, manufacturing, water, and transport—who are managing long-term power price exposure and navigating increasing complexity in energy procurement.

Your role is to turn that complexity into clear, compelling commercial opportunities.

You will own the early and mid-stages of the commercial funnel:

  • Identifying and engaging target accounts
  • Building relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Shaping customer challenges into structured opportunitie and progressing deals through to close

You will work closely with product, customer solutions, and senior leadership to convert complex energy problems into long-term, subscription-based platform relationships.

This is a consultative, insight-led sales role—not transactional SaaS selling.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Identify, target, and engage large energy users with complex power procurement and risk profiles
  • Build and manage a qualified pipeline aligned to Energy Source’s ideal customer profile
  • Lead discovery conversations with CFOs, Energy Managers, Heads of Energy, and Strategy teams
  • Translate customer challenges (price risk, cPPA valuation, budget uncertainty) into clear, differentiated value propositions

 Deal Ownership & Closing

  • Own opportunities end-to-end: qualification, solution shaping, commercial negotiation, and close
  • Develop compelling business cases for Energy Source subscriptions, often involving multi-year agreements
  • Coordinate internal input (product, analytics, leadership) for complex or strategic deals
  • Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and structured deal tracking

 Market & Account Insight

  • Develop a strong understanding of UK and European power markets, cPPA structures, and customer decision cycles
  • Feed market insight and customer feedback directly into product development and go-to-market strategy
  • Track competitor positioning and clearly articulate Energy Source’s differentiated value

 Partnerships & Referrals

  • Support referral-led growth via advisory, consulting, and ecosystem partners
  • Convert inbound interest from broader advisory or market conversations into platform opportunities

Success Measures (What Good Looks Like)

  • Consistent creation of high-quality, ICP-aligned sales pipeline
  • Closed subscription revenue against quarterly and annual targets
  • Strong conversion rates from first meeting → proposal → close
  • Positive customer feedback on commercial approach and problem understanding
  • Clear, actionable market feedback influencing product and positioning

Required Experience and Skill

Essential

  • 5+ years’ experience in B2B business development or sales
  • Experience selling complex, high-value solutions (e.g. SaaS, analytics, advisory, or energy-related services)
  • Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders (C-suite, Directors, Heads of Function)
  • Strong commercial acumen and comfort managing multi-stakeholder decision processes
  • Structured, self-driven approach to pipeline development and deal management
  • Experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, commodities, or related markets

Highly Desirable

  • Exposure to power procurement, corporate PPAs, risk management, or long-term pricing discussions
  • Background in consultative, insight-led selling rather than high-volume SaaS environments

Personal Attributes

  • Commercially curious and intellectually confident
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping shape the problem with the customer
  • Credible, calm, and trusted in senior-level conversations
  • Highly organised, disciplined, and accountable for outcomes
  • Motivated by building something early-stage with real market impact

Why Join Energy Source

  • Work on a genuinely differentiated platform at the intersection of energy markets, data, and AI
  • Help define how a new product business goes to market—not just execute against a fixed playbook
  • Direct exposure to founders and influence over product, positioning, and commercial strategy
  • Opportunity to shape how large energy users manage long-term power risk
  • Competitive base salary with meaningful performance-linked upside
