Our Commodity & Energy Trading practice is looking for an experienced Director to join the team.
Through continued expansion, we are looking for consulting directors to join and support the growth of our Commodity & Energy Trading practice. Our clients rely on our deep industry expertise to navigate a trading landscape defined by price volatility, increasingly complex value chains, and evolving regulatory demands. We support them in defining and executing trading strategies, assessing and enhancing business capabilities, driving technology and digital transformation, and managing risk and regulatory compliance effectively.
What you will be doing
As part of our team, you will play a critical role in building our US practice, partnering with senior leadership to develop client relationships and drive business development initiatives. Additionally, you will help shape the future of our team through talent acquisition, mentoring, and the professional development of junior colleagues. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be expected to:
- Lead client relationship development and identify new business engagement opportunities
- Oversee and deliver client projects and programs in your area of expertise, working collaboratively with client teams
- Contribute to Baringa’s strategic growth at both local and global levels
- Support team growth and development by recruiting top talent, mentoring project teams, and championing career development opportunities such as training and stretch assignments
You will also work closely with clients on the following types of challenging, high-impact engagements:
- Strategy & Commercial Advisory – US market entry and establishment, commercial trading & hedging strategy, commercial collaboration models, book structure & transfer pricing
- Business Capability Development – trading capability assessment & benchmarking, trading capability design, operating & organization design, business process design, business change program planning, business & IT readiness & training, operational excellence
- Risk & Regulatory Advisory – risk strategy definition, risk management policy design, risk capability assessment & design (market, credit, operational, climate, etc.), regulatory & compliance capability assessment & design (KYC, AML, trade surveillance, etc.)
- Data & Analytics Advisory – Data & strategy / architecture design, data & analytics solution design & delivery
- Technology Advisory & Transformation – technology strategy & architecture design, IT operating model design, technology capability building, technology program QA & health checks, vendor selection & implementation
Your skills and experience
Our Director positions require 10+ years of experience in a consulting role, with experience in Commodity & Energy Trading.
We are seeking individuals with strong client delivery and relationship-building skills, coupled with deep advisory expertise in the following areas
- Strategy and Commercial Advisory – Experience in strategic advisory focused on power trading and asset optimization operations
- Functional Expertise – Comprehensive understanding of the power and environmental value chains
- Operating Model Design – Capability assessments and target operating model development for power trading organizations
- Business & IT Transformation – Leading business and IT transformation programs, including change management
- Market Entry & Trading Readiness – Advisory for launching or scaling asset-backed and power trading businesses
- Data and Technology Architecture – Strategy, and design, for ETRM systems and trading analytics platforms
- Program & Project Delivery – Program and project delivery within power trading environments
