About the role: 

 

The Compliance Specialist will be required to provide assistance to the Compliance department on policies, procedures, training, regulatory enquiries, regulatory change and regulatory applications and work with the business on new products, new exchanges, new jurisdictions, trading strategies etc, to ensure regulatory obligations are identified and considered as part of these initiatives, bringing knowledge of wholesale derivative and crypto markets/products to the role.  They will work with the CCO/MLRO to maintain our robust financial crime compliance framework, in partnership with relevant stakeholders, to execute the firm's strategy in accordance with its risk appetite, regulatory expectations and industry best practices. 

This role is based in our London office, with the option to work remotely two days per week.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Coordinate with Global Legal and Compliance teams to ensure B2C2’s global compliance programmes high standard and the achievement of the highest level of ethical and professional expectations in line with B2C2’s core values.

Regulatory change / projects - identify and deploy regulatory inventory / change tracking system to systematically identify current obligations and prepare for regulatory changes. Once identified, work with other functions in the business and/or support / control areas to ensure projects are established and then successfully completed to ensure B2C2 is and remains compliant with its obligations.

Business advisory and projects: review / approval of new business proposals, sales and marketing materials, etc. - using regulatory knowledge, business familiarity and risk awareness to ensure both a compliant but also commercial approach is taken with respect to regulatory adherence. Work closely with internal stakeholders (business and corporate functions including Client Onboarding/KYC, Operations, Risk, Sales, Trading, Finance, IT, etc.) on compliance issues.

Policy drafting, updates, maintenance: ensure the policy inventory / framework is in place that maps to the relevant regulatory obligations, and that policies are maintained and communicated, with 100% attestation from relevant staff for the critical policies which are to be refreshed on a frequency depending on the level of risk attached to that policy

Training: deliver tailor made, B2C2 or desk specific training to key staff where appropriate, this training is to supplement and add value to the regular web-based training which is delivered to all staff, the format, content and frequency of which is also to be overseen in this role, training is to cover new and existing staff.

Assist the Compliance, Regulatory and Legal Teams in responding to regulatory inquiries, audits, examinations, etc., including driving associated responses with relevant stakeholders.

Assist in managing conflicts of interest and other issues that may arise.

Perform regulatory horizon scanning in relation to crypto/derivatives markets and advise on ongoing developments to the regulatory landscape.

In all cases, this work is to cover both regulatory and financial crime compliance obligations.

 

Required Skills and experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree required. 
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in relevant experience in a UK based regulatory compliance/legal role (compatibility  with a fintech or cryptoasset trading firm is a plus).
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of FCA requirements, laws  and regulations.
  • Knowledge of crypto products and/or wholesale ‘tradfi’ markets.
  • Knowledge/fluency in cryptocurrency and blockchain industry concepts is a plus.
  • Experience building and developing compliance programs and policies in a fast-moving growth company environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and learn new tools quickly.
  • Ability to make independent decisions as well as collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Willingness to work across different time zones with global and regional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: Effective communicator both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to face-off to management team, Front Office, Onboarding/KYC, Operations, Risk, Sales, Trading, Finance, IT, Audit.
  • Very well-organized and good at multi-tasking. Track-record of keeping good
    composure in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Energetic / self-starter. Ability to take direction and act quickly.
