About the job

Are you early in your IT career and ready to take your next step? We’re looking for a Workplace Technology Engineer (Early Careers) to join our Connect IT team at Autotrader in Manchester.

If you’ve had some experience providing IT or technical support—whether in a previous job, internship, placement year, or even through self-learning and you’re passionate about delivering great user experiences through technology, this could be the perfect role for you.

Our Connect IT team is the friendly face of technology across Autotrader. We’re a one-stop shop supporting colleagues both in the office and working remotely. You’ll be part of a collaborative and knowledgeable team, helping to keep our people connected, productive, and supported through technology that works.

As part of the team, you’ll be the primary point of contact for technical support, assisting colleagues in resolving issues across Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms. You’ll get hands-on experience managing devices, troubleshooting problems, and supporting meeting and event spaces to ensure everything runs smoothly and our colleagues have a great experience. You’ll also help maintain our hardware inventory, assist in creating and deploying configuration policies, and support automation and improvement initiatives.

You’ll work collaboratively with other teams to troubleshoot incidents, contribute to ongoing projects from testing to rollout and continuously look for ways to make our systems and services even better for our people. Every day will bring new challenges and opportunities to learn, and you’ll have the autonomy to take ownership and make meaningful contributions from day one.

It’s also an exciting time for project work, as we gear up for a move to our new office in Circle Square.

What we're looking for

  • Some experience providing IT or technical support (through work, study, or personal projects).
  • A genuine passion for technology and curiosity to learn new tools, systems, and approaches.
  • Familiarity with key technologies such as Windows, macOS, basic networking, and wireless connectivity.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach—you enjoy helping people and making technology easy to use.
  • A proactive attitude: you identify opportunities to improve processes and take ownership of tasks.
  • Collaborative mindset, keen to share knowledge, learn from others, and grow together.
  • Experience with or desire to learn Microsoft Intune, among other technologies 

During our application process, you will be asked two questions to help us learn more about you and how you align with our values. These will be used as part of our selection criteria, to determine if we progress your application further.

Benefits

We’re offering a salary of £26,000 – £27,500, plus an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares. 

You'll have 28 days of holiday per year, in addition to bank holidays and half-day closures on Christmas and New Year's Eve.

In addition to all that, our hybrid model, Connected Working, combines the best of both worlds – office and home working. You’ll have two fixed weekly office days for team collaboration and one more of your choice to suit your work-life balance.  

Additionally, we have our remote-first periods at set times during summer and winter. During these periods, you can work remotely anywhere in the UK and from certain locations abroad.
