Performance Manager (New Car)

Manchester

About us

You’ve probably heard of Autotrader, but do you know what we’re all about?

We’re the UK’s leading automotive marketplace, a heritage brand, and a tech darling of the stock market. We bring together vehicle buyers and sellers to give them real choices. Cars may be what we're best known for but we’re also the place for pretty much everything else on wheels, from e-bikes to caravans.

In the automotive world, change is a constant, that’s why we take our job of untangling the complex car-buying journey very seriously.

At our core, we’re all about people. We go our own way while embracing diversity and celebrating our differences. We dedicate ourselves to the idea that we work better together.

Autotrader is a beautiful, surprising and vibrant place to work. We might not be for everyone, but we could be perfect for you.

About the job

We’re looking for a Performance Manager (New Car product area) to join our Sales & Customer Partnerships team in Manchester. The Performance Manager role focuses on empowering car retailers and manufacturers to optimise product performance, leverage data-driven insights, and drive success in the digital car marketplace through strategic collaboration and best practice sharing.

In this collaborative role, you will work closely with car retailers, manufacturers, and internal teams to champion our innovative New Car product. The New Car product allows retailers to showcase their brand-new, unregistered stock to online buyers. We connect over 1 million buyers monthly to the best retailers near them, delivering 1,000's of new car leads to retailers every week.

In this strategic role, your responsibilities will include driving stock and retailer volumes, proactively identifying commercial opportunities, and mitigating risks to ensure success for both our customers and Autotrader. With a strong foundation in product knowledge, a curious mindset, and access to our industry-leading data, you will empower retail customers and manufacturers to stay competitive in today’s digital-first marketplace.

By collaborating with car retailers and manufacturers, you’ll help optimise product performance and build engagement through sharing best practices, supporting stock listings, delivering training, and resolving challenges. You’ll simplify complex data and products, aligning them with customer goals and strategies to meet the expectations of today’s online car buyers.

Additionally, you’ll partner with internal teams, including our Account Managers and Account Directors, to share insights, provide product updates, and unlock new commercial opportunities for their customers.

You might believe that a passion for cars and knowledge of the automotive industry is a requirement, but guess what? It’s not! We're looking for people who are passionate about achieving customer success, mitigating risk and driving return on investment while maximising new opportunities. Think of this role as a hybrid, combining elements of an Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, and Performance Manager to drive product success, but without the need to be a car enthusiast.

Finally, we’re looking for someone who is curious and excited to become an expert, and drive growth, of our New Car product.

What we're looking for

  • Experience working with B2B customers to embed products and improve engagement and performance.
  • You'll have experience that encompasses that of an Account Manager, Customer Success Manager or Performance Manager or similar in a B2B environment
  • You will be confident to work with and challenge both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in using data to tell a story, and you’ll be confident using Excel or other insight tools such as Looker.
  • You will be commercially minded and will have experience achieving or exceeding team targets and KPI’s
  • You will be proactive and collaborative, which will allow you to spot opportunities, manage risk, and drive change forward.

During our application process, you will be asked two questions to help us learn more about you and how you align with our values. These will be used as part of our selection criteria, to determine if we progress your application further.

Benefits

We’re offering a salary of £37,500-£45,000, plus an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares.

You'll have 28 days of holiday per year, in addition to bank holidays and half-day closures on Christmas and New Year's Eve.

That’s not all. You'll be enrolled in our pension scheme, where our standard contributions are 7% and employee contributions are 5%. We also have comprehensive private medical cover, enhanced family leave provisions, a car salary sacrifice scheme, share-save options, and much more.

We always want to give you the support you need and help prioritise your wellbeing, that’s why we provide access to 24/7 online GP and dentist, as well as specialist support for assisted fertility, gender dysphoria, menopause, period care plans and lots more.

On top of all that, our hybrid model, Connected Working, combines the best of both worlds – office and home working. You’ll have two fixed weekly office days for team collaboration and one more of your choice to suit your work-life balance.

Additionally, we have our remote-first periods at set times during summer and winter. During these periods, you can work remotely anywhere in the UK and from certain locations abroad.
