Senior Performance Manager

London

About us

You’ve probably heard of Autotrader, but do you know what we’re all about?

We’re the UK’s leading automotive marketplace, a heritage brand, and a tech darling of the stock market. We bring together vehicle buyers and sellers to give them real choices. Cars may be what we're best known for but we’re also the place for pretty much everything else on wheels, from e-bikes to caravans.

In the automotive world, change is a constant; that’s why we take our job of untangling the complex car-buying journey very seriously.

At our core, we’re all about people. We go our own way while embracing diversity and celebrating our differences. We dedicate ourselves to the idea that we work better together.

Autotrader is a beautiful, surprising and vibrant place to work. We might not be for everyone, but we could be perfect for you.

About the job

We’re looking for an experienced, analytical, and commercially minded individual to join our Manufacturer Operations team as a Senior Performance Manager. This is a key role at the heart of a function designed to strengthen how we deliver value to our automotive partners through data, insight, and operational excellence. You’ll play a central role in helping us achieve long-term strategic growth and shaping how our teams work with manufacturers and their media partners.

As a Senior Performance Manager, you’ll act as a strategic connector across the business, combining analytical expertise, deep product knowledge, and industry insight to influence decisions. You’ll lead on performance reporting, drive tool adoption, and identify opportunities for process improvement, ensuring our customer-facing teams are equipped to deliver impactful, consultative conversations. Your work will directly shape how we grow and retain key accounts, improve team efficiency, and strengthen partnerships across the board.

This role goes beyond analysis; you’ll have a voice in the room with senior stakeholders and clients, helping to craft compelling narratives from complex data and presenting insights that drive action. From steering key forums and partnership sessions to providing thought leadership on market trends, you’ll position yourself as a trusted advisor both internally and externally.

You’ll also take ownership of high-profile projects and workstreams, such as product integrations and data initiatives, while ensuring consistency in reporting and measurement across teams. Coaching and developing junior team members will be a key part of your role, helping to build capability and embed a data-driven culture across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape a function that underpins our new organisational structure, working at pace with talented colleagues to deliver exceptional outcomes for our partners. If you’re passionate about creating impact through insight, leading from the front, and influencing change in a fast-moving industry, we’d love to hear from you.

What we're looking for

  • Comfortable (experience in) presenting to and working with director-level clients
  • Ability to manage various stakeholders on complex projects spanning multiple teams and departments - managing priorities of other teams, ability to hold others to account
  • Strong technical capability in reporting, automation and analytics, can transform complex data into compelling & straightforward insights.
  • Understanding of/interest in digital technologies that can help drive efficiency (e.g. someone who's interested in applying AI to automate tasks where possible)
  • Experience in account management or analytical roles, working with manufacturers or media agencies.
  • Excellent understanding of digital advertising platforms, metrics, and best practices.
  • Experience in using relevant data analytics tools such as Looker and Excel to build dashboards which provide insight.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive manufacturers & media agencies.
  • Working knowledge of UK automotive market trends, competitor activities, consumer car buying behaviours, research patterns, key performance metrics for manufacturers, automotive terminology and industry practices.
  • Clear communication style when explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences, consultative approach to understand what teams need from dashboards and reports
  • You will have great stakeholder management skills and the ability to build excellent working relationships.
  • Strong understanding of commercial drivers and ability to link performance insights to business impact.
  • Keen to learn and embed new tools – e.g. LLMs and Hubspot.

During our application process, you will be asked two questions to help us learn more about you and how you align with our values. These will be used as part of our selection criteria, to determine if we progress your application further.

Benefits

We’re offering a salary of £45,000 – £60,000, plus an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares.

You'll have 28 days of holiday per year, in addition to bank holidays and half-day closures on Christmas and New Year's Eve.

That’s not all. You'll be enrolled in our pension scheme, where our standard contributions are 7% and employee contributions are 5%. We also have comprehensive private medical cover, enhanced family leave provisions, a car salary sacrifice scheme, share-save options, and much more.

We always want to give you the support you need and help prioritise your wellbeing, that’s why we provide access to 24/7 online GP and dentist, as well as specialist support for assisted fertility, gender dysphoria, menopause, period care plans and lots more.

On top of all that, our hybrid model, Connected Working, combines the best of both worlds – office and home working. You’ll have two fixed weekly office days for team collaboration and one more of your choice to suit your work-life balance.

Additionally, we have our remote-first periods at set times during summer and winter. During these periods, you can work remotely anywhere in the UK and from certain locations abroad.
