About the job

We are looking for Graduate Software Developers to join our Product and Tech Community.

As a Graduate Software Developer you’ll work within our developer community, gaining exposure to a wide range of technologies and methodologies, including Agile, XP, Scrum, Kanban, and Test-Driven Development (TDD). You'll work closely with Technical, Product, and Delivery Leads, as well as UX Designers, Testers, Data Analysts, and fellow Developers at all levels. You’ll participate in pairing, code reviews, and regular stand-ups, these interactions will provide you with a strong foundation for your career in software development, helping you grow your skills in a supportive and innovative environment.

What we're looking for

  • You'll be a graduate in any degree discipline (or hold a level 6 qualification) with a passion for software development, coding and technology.
  • You will have complimented your studies and knowledge, whether that be through personal technology projects or university/community hacks you've attended.
  • As a digital business, we're constantly evolving, so the ability to adapt and be comfortable with change in an ever-changing landscape is a must.
  • Our Product and Tech community value collaboration and teamwork, so you’ll be eager to learn from the people you work with and embrace the opportunities on offer.

You might assume that our name, "Autotrader," means you need to be a car enthusiast to work here. But that's not the case. We're looking for people who are passionate about their work and thrive in a collaborative environment.

Autotrader's Graduate Academy 

Our graduate programme is designed to fast-track your career and develop your skills. It’s a 2-year programme with a permanent role from day one. Your journey starts with a 6-week Academy Foundation alongside other graduates, learning about our company, culture, products and customers. You'll then focus on your specific role while working on practical projects as a cohort, with support from mentors, your dedicated line manager and the Early Careers team. We’re offering a salary of £28,000, plus an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares. Additionally, during July and August, along with two weeks in December, we have our remote first periods. During these times, you can work remotely, whether that's from another location in the UK or even from certain locations abroad.
