Pricing Analyst
About us
You’ve probably heard of Autotrader, but do you know what we’re all about?
We’re the UK’s leading automotive marketplace, a heritage brand, and a tech darling of the stock market. We bring together vehicle buyers and sellers to give them real choices. Cars may be what we're best known for but we’re also the place for pretty much everything else on wheels, from e-bikes to caravans.
In the automotive world, change is a constant, that’s why we take our job of untangling the complex car-buying journey very seriously.
At our core, we’re all about people. We go our own way while embracing diversity and celebrating our differences. We dedicate ourselves to the idea that we work better together.
Autotrader is a beautiful, surprising and vibrant place to work. We might not be for everyone, but we could be perfect for you.
About the job
We’re looking for a Pricing Analyst to join us in Manchester.
As a FTSE 100 company, we work in a fast-paced and agile environment, which means collaboration is vital. Our Finance tribe is a trusted business partner and provides insightful information and analysis to help the business make strategic and operational decisions.
Reporting to the Pricing Manager and working closely with the Senior Pricing Analyst, you’ll work as part of a team that underpins Autotrader's commercial and strategic decisions, helping drive revenue and strategic optimisation.
As a Pricing Analyst, you will be involved in all our pricing processes to ensure we are utilising the product pricing framework while collecting and analysing the key information to make informed pricing decisions that support our overall pricing strategy.
You will play a key role in our annual pricing strategy and review by enabling decision-making through the provision of well-thought-out analysis that considers the impacts of customer behaviours and models risks and opportunities. You’ll be able to produce analysis to prove the validity of pricing hypotheses and recommend actions based on the findings.
You’ll gain great exposure to all areas of the business and truly be embedded across the different product teams, partnering with them to ensure that pricing and product strategies are synchronised, and we can apply our pricing framework, the principle of value-based pricing, alongside the business knowledge that you will build up.
Using your financial and data modelling skills, you will be confident in offering pricing recommendations and influencing product, sales, and leadership teams to make the optimum pricing decision.
What we're looking for
This is a great opportunity for someone with Pricing experience looking to continue to develop their experience with a market leader. Similarly, if you are a Finance Analyst (Commercial or FP&A) and would like to get some Pricing experience, then we’d love to hear from you.
We’re looking for someone with the following skills/experience:
- You’ll have experience in an analytical role that utilises Excel and will be able to prepare data, analyse it, and summarise the results.
- You will have the ability to translate complex data into digestible information, which you can then clearly communicate as data storytelling to both finance and non-finance audiences.
- You’ll demonstrate your curiosity, be motivated by finding answers and love asking questions.
- You’ll be detail-oriented and commercially minded.
- You will have excellent communication skills - to be able to summarise analysis, provide insight and convey findings to a wide variety of stakeholders across the business to influence decisions.
- Good Excel and PowerPoint skills
Although not essential, it would be great if you had exposure to any of the below:
- Experience of pulling data (we use Big Query and Looker)
- Pricing background – you know about different types of commercial models and how they can be applied.
- Experience in modelling with large, complex data sets.
Benefits
We’re offering a salary of £35,000– £42,500 plus an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares.
You'll have 28 days holiday per year, and that's in addition to bank holidays and half day closures on Christmas and New Year's Eve.
That’s not all. We have employee pension contributions up to 7%, comprehensive private medical cover, enhanced family leave provisions, a car salary sacrifice scheme, share-save options, and much more.
We always want to give you the support you need and help prioritise your wellbeing, that’s why we provide access to 24/7 online GP and dentist, as well as specialist support for assisted fertility, gender dysphoria, menopause, period care plans and lots more.
On top of all that, our hybrid model, Connected Working, combines the best of both worlds – office and home working. You’ll have two fixed weekly office days for team collaboration and one more of your choice to suit your work-life balance.
Additionally, we have our remote-first periods at set times during summer and winter. During these periods, you can work remotely anywhere in the UK and from certain locations abroad.
