About Us
FDE represents Ashley, the number one selling furniture brand in the world and the leading retailer of furniture and bedding in the United States. The Regional Director of Sales is responsible for hiring, developing, and performance managing sales leaders who focus on building fully staffed and high-performing sales teams, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and achieving sales budgets.
By focusing on their team members’ “Why”, fostering positive belief systems, and coaching on process behaviors, the Regional Director of Sales drives key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensures each store achieves its goals. This role requires maintaining a laser focus on the sales floor to stay in Position to Impact, leading to a successful P/L for a region of 4 to 6 stores.

Essential Functions
Successfully complete a detailed, high-intensity, 6-month onboarding process to ensure confidence and readiness for long-term success, work directly with the Vice President of Sales or Area VP of Sales and other Regional Directors to develop annual goals and strategies for the market, take full responsibility for the P/L of each store in the region.
Lead and manage the team by focusing on FDE’s seven critical sales leadership processes: manage and monitor staffing, onboard new team members, engage, develop, and performance manage team members, manage and execute FDE’s proven sales process, manage prospecting and follow-up, manage quality and compliance, and maintain Position to Impact.
Demonstrate mastery of FDE’s Leadership Toolkit, attend training sessions including Managers Meetings, Product and Vendor Training, Leadership Training, and Managers Essentials to continuously improve abilities, coach and develop leaders such as Sales and Development Managers, Managers in Training (MITs), Sales Managers, Assistant Selling Managers, and Coaches.
Focus on achieving essential sales KPIs including:
Sales Budget (Store Specific Tiers), Staff to Traffic/Turnover, Close Rate, Sales per Guest, Average Sale, Sleep Percentage, Net Margin, Protection Percentage, Team Opportunity Split Percentage, Financing Application Percentage, Net Promoter Score (NPS), Appointment Percentage Booked of Unsold Guests, and Total Piece Exception Rate.
Ensure sales functions support the company’s mission and values, attend and facilitate Retail Performance Tours and Retail Performance Meetings to ensure alignment in People, Performance, Process, and Presentation, ensure showrooms are always guest-ready, take team opportunities and overflow guests to train team members and maintain personal sales process proficiency, assist in executing store openings, relocations, remodels, and closures to support enterprise profitability, and participate in Enterprise Excellence Projects to improve business processes and strategies when selected.
Secondary Functions
Use Continuous Improvement tools to enhance store safety, quality, productivity, and cost metrics, perform competitive shopping to stay informed about the local market, promote and build the Ashley brand through community involvement and events, and maintain strong product and process knowledge to understand Ashley’s position in the marketplace.
Schedule Expectations
Work a minimum of 45 hours per week including Saturdays and/or Sundays, with increased hours during holidays, blackout periods, or for business needs, scheduled for two days off per week except during peak periods, maintain regular attendance at assigned stores, and travel up to 75 percent of the time.
Education and Experience Requirements
Five to seven years of retail sales and sales management experience in a multi-store, high-volume organization required, preferably with experience in retail or hospitality (furniture experience preferred but not required), demonstrated career growth and tenure in district or regional management roles overseeing multiple locations.
Knowledge and Skills
Exceptional knowledge of retail and sales operations processes, strong understanding of furniture products and styles, solid business acumen including finance, management, marketing, and merchandising, exceptional relationship-building skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to turn insights into action, proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, empower, and develop teams, excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, strong organizational and project management skills to meet demanding deadlines, proficiency in supervision and coaching for goal achievement, high adaptability to changing priorities, and basic computer and office software proficiency.
