Infrastructure Engineer
Who we are
Our name is inspired by Theodore Roosevelt’s ‘Citizenship in a Republic’ speech, which pays homage to the ‘(hu)man in the Arena’. To us, entering the Arena means committing oneself fully and accepting the risk of failure in the pursuit of an audacious, worthy cause.
We’re a close-knit tribe of scientists and builders exploring the boundaries of how artificial intelligence can benefit humanity. If you share our passion for delving deep into real-world problems and solving them with fully autonomous AI, join us in the Arena.
What we do
Our collective future is being built in the physical world, but the builders of tomorrow’s technology can no longer rely on yesterday’s tools. At Arena, we’re building the world’s first AI industrial engineer designed to solve the most complex hardware and manufacturing challenges. Our product, Atlas, is built with an understanding of the behavior of physical systems, powered by a superior knowledge of core domains of physics. Paired with its ability to reason about multimodal industrial data, Atlas can test, debug, optimize, and repair physical systems and products in the real world. Arena is already trusted by some of the most advanced industrial companies in the world (AMD, Bausch & Lomb), and we're rapidly already scaling into the defense, automotive, and pharmaceuticals industries, and we’re just getting started.
About the role
Arena is building the operating system for real-time decision-making. We're a fast-growing startup based in NYC, backed by top-tier investors, and powering mission-critical operations for leading companies across logistics, manufacturing, and supply chain.
We’re hiring our second Infrastructure Engineer — someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment and wants to help build and scale the infrastructure behind a cutting-edge AI platform. You'll work directly with our Head of Infrastructure to improve our developer experience, strengthen our internal tooling, and support deployments into customer cloud environments.
You will
- Own and improve CI/CD pipelines (primarily GitHub Actions) for internal and customer-facing services
- Write and maintain Terraform infrastructure across multiple AWS environments (ECS Fargate, networking, IAM, etc.)
- Support customer deployments — including working directly with their IT teams to deploy Arena into their cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Enhance developer workflows to make building, testing, and deploying easier and faster
- Monitor infrastructure performance and cost, and drive cost-optimization initiatives
- Review infrastructure PRs, collaborate closely with your team lead, and help define our best practices
- Be part of a small, fast-moving team where you’ll have meaningful ownership from day one
You have
- 5+ years of experience in an infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE role
- Strong experience with AWS (especially ECS Fargate), Terraform, and Docker
- Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools
- Willingness to learn GCP and Azure for future customer deployments
- Comfortable working directly with engineers, product teams, and (occasionally) customer IT teams
- Highly responsive, organized, and communicative — Slack and synchronous work are a big part of how we collaborate
Requirements
- Willing to work in our office in NYC 5 days a week. Relocation is available for those who need it.
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally to customer locations. This will likely be potentially 10%-15% of time.
Benefits
- 99% of the monthly premium for Aetna medical insurance, plus vision and dental coverage
- One Medical and Teladoc membership
- Talkspace Membership
- 401(k) Retirement Plan
- Unlimited PTO
- Lunch every day from local restaurants via Sharebite
- Commuter benefits
The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $225,000 yr. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we also offer competitive equity and benefits packages.
