Your mission as a Senior Accountant
We are looking for an ambitious and tech-savvy Senior Accountant (m/f/d) to join our team. In this critical role, you will be a key driver of our financial integrity and the technical architect of our accounting function.
Your focus will be on ensuring the highest quality in our financial data while actively building a scalable, automated accounting ecosystem. Working closely with our Team Lead Accounting, you will leverage technology and deep accounting expertise to evolve a cutting-edge global finance function.
You will play a central role in ensuring a fast and clean month-end and year-end close and act as a high-level technical expert for our accounting processes. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where your technical expertise has a direct impact on our global scalability.
A few words about the team
Our Accounting team is the financial heartbeat of Appinio. We are a small, highly collaborative group that values pragmatism, tech-automation, and "clean" data. We believe that modern accounting should be invisible - powered by smart tools like Light, DATEV, and Lucanet - allowing us to focus on high-level advisory and global expansion.
What you'll be doing
- Maintain and optimize the financial ledgers of the Appinio Group, ensuring they are 100% accurate, compliant, and documented to the highest standards
- Work hand-in-hand with the Team Lead Accounting to ensure a fast and clean month-end and year-end close (HGB) for our German entity and support the subsidiaries
- Prepare all necessary documentation and schedules for the annual audits, ensuring a smooth and efficient process by acting as a professional internal expert for the auditors
- Actively drive the implementation and optimization of our tool-stack (specifically Light, DATEV, and Lucanet) to build a truly digital and scalable accounting function
- Act as a technical gatekeeper by reviewing accounting topics, ensuring data robustness, and finding ways to minimize manual work
- Serve as a technical sparring partner for the Team Lead Accounting on accounting, tax, and compliance issues
- Support the technical consolidation and international alignment of our subsidiaries (Spain, UK, US, Colombia)
You will thrive in this role if
- You have 5+ years of work experience in a Big 4 environment or a high-stakes accounting role in a fast-paced company
- You have an in-depth understanding of German tax and accounting standards (HGB). Knowledge of IFRS or an advanced degree/qualification in accounting is a significant plus
- You constantly challenge the status quo. You don't just want to "do" accounting; you want to build systems that automate it. Experience with modern ERP/Accounting tools is essential
- You have a "clean-audit" mindset and a proven track record of delivering high-quality financial work under tight deadlines
- You are comfortable with DATEV, Lucanet, and Google Sheets, and you enjoy translating financial data into clear structures
- You have a helpful, pragmatic approach to problem-solving and enjoy working in a growth-oriented environment
- You have German skills at C2 level (essential for German HGB/Tax) as well as fluency in English
What’s in it for you?
- Flexibility Policy - Our flexibility policy means there is no hard cap on the number of vacation days you can take
- Temporary work from abroad - If you're based in the EU, you can work outside your country of residence for up to 180 days per year

- If you are located in Hamburg or Berlin, you'll get a Deutschland ticket or access to a mobility budget with the NAVIT app to get you to and from the office space
- Subsidised Urban Sports Club or ClassPass membership based on location
