Your Role:
Apollo’s Exposure Management function is an established team with automated process and reporting at the forefront of what we do.
Following continued growth and success in our Property and Treaty teams, we are seeking an Exposure Management Analyst to join our Natural Catastrophe team. This role will support the oversight of new of the platform partner syndicates.
This is an excellent opportunity to take the next step into a senior analyst role. We’re looking for someone who is innovative, data-driven, and eager to shape the future of catastrophe modelling. At Apollo, we’re proud to be one of the first syndicates fully operating on Moody’s Risk Intelligence platform and embedding HD models—putting us well ahead of the curve while many others are just beginning their journey.
Our focus on streamlining workflows allows our analysts to spend more time generating valuable, data-led insights that directly support strategic business decisions. To continue leading the market in this space, we’re seeking a candidate with strong Python or R programming skills and confidence in using Power BI.
What you’ll do:
Data Analytics & Insights
- Develop advanced analytics to derive actionable insights from catastrophe model outputs and exposure datasets.
- Seek out data sets that augment our understanding of our exposure profile.
- Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, and risk teams to design and implement analytical tools to support risk selection and accumulation management.
- Leverage programming and statistical tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Power BI) to aid automation and analysis capabilities.
Catastrophe Modelling and Exposure Analysis
- Develop and implement a robust and sustainable modeling strategy for multiple lines of business that identifies critical paths to success and ensures continued development of the modeling teams and tools to enhance service delivery.
- Ensure adherence to all agreed internal risk appetites and external limits, including Lloyd’s Franchise Guidelines
- Be responsible for regulatory reporting where required
- Be responsible for the management of the property datasets used for modelling
Portfolio Steering & Reporting
- Support strategic portfolio steering through impact analysis of aggregation, reinsurance structures, and modelling.
- Identify profitable opportunities and accumulation hotspots across geographies and perils.
- Provide data-driven recommendations for improving capital efficiency and alignment with risk appetites
Dashboards & Reporting
- Design, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards (e.g., Power BI) to communicate key catastrophe risk metrics and portfolio KPIs.
- Produce clear, accurate, and timely reports for internal stakeholders, including exposure roll-ups, Lloyd’s returns (e.g., RDS, LCM), and board-level summaries.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal risk governance standards
What we are looking for:
We are looking for an individual who is inquisitive and proactive, eager to question and improve existing processes and norms, with the goal of driving our business forward.
- Catastrophe modelling experience
- Strong data analytics or engineering backgrounds
- Experience with Python or similar coding languages
- Established foundation in data analytics
