Principal Delivery Lead

 

Job description:

The Principal Delivery Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the successful delivery of complex, multi-team programmes of work, partnering with clients to define and deliver value that meets their business needs and goals. The role ensures delivery is aligned with client expectations and that Amdaris delivery standards and best practices are followed.

Reporting into a Portfolio Director, the Principal Delivery Lead is the most senior hands-on delivery role within Amdaris, recognized as a delivery expert and trusted advisor to clients. Operating as a leader within the Delivery community, the role coaches Senior Delivery Leads and Delivery Leads, sets the standard for delivery excellence, supports delivery improvements in accordance with the Amdaris Way, and acts as an escalation point.

The role holds accountability for high‑quality delivery execution across multiple workstreams and demonstrates influential senior stakeholder management and strong commercial awareness. It requires strong leadership and communication skills, excellent client focus, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

Delivery Management

  • Confidently owns, and is accountable for, the successful end‑to‑end delivery of strategically important, large‑scale programmes.
  • Sets and drives delivery in line with best practice and the Amdaris Way, maintaining consistent quality, effectiveness, and control across the programme.
  • Aligns and manages cross‑team dependencies and risks with the client and internal stakeholders, resolving blockers through timely decisions and actions that protect scope, timelines, and programme outcomes.
  • Holds Delivery Leads within the programme accountable for effective governance and reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent status updates across all workstreams.
  • Owns and shapes programme-level reporting to provide clear, executive-aligned insights to senior client stakeholders.
  • Identifies delivery risks and issues early, working proactively with stakeholders to resolve them before they impact outcomes.
  • Leads continuous improvement within the programme, embedding lessons learned and evolving ways of working to improve effectiveness and performance.

 

 

Client Management

  • Builds strong, trusted and influential relationships with senior client stakeholders, operating as a credible delivery leader and advisor.
  • Partners with clients to shape delivery outcomes, providing informed advice and constructive challenge to drive efficient, effective, and value-led delivery.
  • Establishes and leads stakeholder engagement, ensuring stakeholder maps, communication plans, and governance frameworks provide executive oversight and enable timely decision making.
  • Proactively manages client expectations to maintain confidence, transparency, and delivery momentum.
  • Acts as the primary escalation point for delivery-related issues, engaging the Portfolio Director and wider leadership to resolve complex or high-risk issues.
  • Leads governance meetings and quarterly client reviews, shaping the agenda and narrative to focus on outcomes, risks, and value delivered.
  • Drives the use of client feedback (e.g. NPS) to create targeted improvement plans, engaging the Portfolio Director and/or Client Success Manager as needed for critical issues.

 

People Management

  • Provides coaching and mentorship to Senior Delivery Leads and Delivery Leads, strengthening leadership capability and delivery maturity across the programme.
  • Builds delivery capability by identifying skills gaps, developing talent, and providing targeted development actions.
  • Sets clear performance expectations and provides constructive feedback, supporting objective setting and progression in line with Amdaris competency frameworks.
  • Role-models leadership behaviors and Amdaris values, fostering a high-performance culture where teams are motivated, accountable, and continuously improving.

 

Commercial Management

  • Owns and drives programme-level estimation, shaping and governing estimation approaches across teams. Coaches Delivery Leads to estimate effectively from task to roadmap level, going beyond short-term planning.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of estimates and the progress of delivery against agreed commercial factors, proactively managing risks, assumptions, and change requests to protect outcomes.
  • Identifies and progresses upsell and cross-sell opportunities in partnership with the client and Amdaris teams, ensuring they are commercially sound and escalated appropriately.
  • Maintains a commercially viable team structure across the programme, balancing cost, capability, utilization, and delivery risk.

Reporting, Monitoring and Risk Management

  • Leads programme‑level risk, issue, assumption, and dependency management, proactively engaging client and internal stakeholders to mitigate risk and protect outcomes.
  • Establishes and governs effective programme governance forums, ensuring they enable timely decision‑making, escalation, and executive oversight.
  • Drives improvement plans in response to delivery performance and feedback, tracking effectiveness and embedding sustainable change across the programme.
  • Owns programme‑level reporting, ensuring accurate, timely, and insight‑led information is provided to both internal and client stakeholders in line with Amdaris standards.
  • Anticipates and addresses resourcing risks, working with the Portfolio Director and wider leadership to implement timely and commercially sound resolutions.
  • Champions the effective use of Amdaris delivery tools, systems, and reporting practices, promoting consistency, transparency, and data‑driven decision‑

 

Education/ Experience:

  • Comprehensive delivery experience including end-to-end accountability for complex multi‑team programmes.
  • Proven success delivering software‑led programmes using both Agile delivery models and fixed‑price, fixed‑scope commercial arrangements, with accountability for estimates, outcomes, and value delivery.
  • Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, with the ability to shape delivery approaches, governance, and operating models appropriate to client context.
  • Demonstrable experience influencing senior client stakeholders and operating as a trusted delivery advisor in complex, high‑stakes environments.
  • Experience coaching, developing, and leading senior delivery practitioners, building delivery capability and leadership maturity across teams and programmes.

 

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop high‑performing delivery teams, building leadership capability and delivery maturity at scale.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of influencing and engaging senior and executive client stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating with broad direction in complex environments, taking ownership and accountability of outcomes and decisions.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking capability, able to assess complex situations, make sound judgements, and drive effective decision‑making under pressure.
  • Proven ability to influence across delivery teams, clients at all levels, and internal stakeholders to align priorities and drive value-led outcomes.
  • Experience leading multiple concurrent large‑scale workstreams and operating within complex, multi‑team delivery environments.
  • A strong focus on results, quality, and continuous improvement, with the drive to raise standards and deliver measurable value.
