Senior Full Stack Engineer (Python&React)

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer (Python and React) for a 3-month contract with potential prolongation to lead a project focused on building a portal that simplifies the Medicaid application process. The platform will support multiple types of Medicaid applications, enabling both individual applicants and organizations (such as lawyers, nursing homes, etc.) to apply on behalf of others. By moving the process online, the system will significantly reduce government response times from 45 days to just 24 hours.

This role requires at least 4 hours of overlap with EST working hours (9 AM — 5 PM EST).

Due to the specific terms of the customer’s contract, we prefer candidates based outside of Ukraine. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to receiving applications from a broad range of locations.

You will join a large-scale initiative aimed at transforming the U.S. federal financial programs application process. The project’s mission is to build a suite of enterprise-level applications that will reduce government response times from 45 days to 24 hours and provide a seamless digital experience for both individual applicants and organizations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of backend services using Python + FastAPI (approx. 60% focus).

• Build responsive frontend components in React (JavaScript/TypeScript) (40% focus).

• Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across three products.

• Design and optimize schemas in PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.

• Develop a migration strategy and execute the transition from QuickBase.

• Integrate AI and OCR services for document processing and automation.

• Ensure best practices: clean, well-tested, and documented code.

• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to process improvements.

• Collaborate closely with UI/UX, product owner, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong expertise in Python (FastAPI, Django, or Flask).

• Experience in frontend development with React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3.

• Proven background in building and maintaining RESTful APIs.

• Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL.

• Hands-on with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.).

• Practical experience with AWS (S3, etc.) and cloud deployments.

• Experience in system design from scratch and complex migrations.

• Familiarity with agile practices, Git, and JIRA.

• English — B2+ (effective communication in international teams).

Nice to Have

• Experience in HealthTech or FinTech domains.

• Knowledge of AI/ML integrations (OCR, data extraction).

• Experience with Terraform or other IaC tools.

• Background in writing unit/API tests and automation.
