Senior Python Developer

We are looking for a Python Developer for a 3-month contract with potential prolongation to lead a project focused on building a portal that simplifies the Medicaid application process. The platform will support multiple types of Medicaid applications, enabling both individual applicants and organizations (such as lawyers, nursing homes, etc.) to apply on behalf of others. By moving the process online, the system will significantly reduce government response times from 45 days to just 24 hours.
This role requires at least 4 hours of overlap with EST working hours (9 AM — 5 PM EST).
Due to the specific terms of the customer’s contract, we prefer candidates based outside of Ukraine. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to receiving applications from a broad range of locations.
Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, and deploy high-quality, enterprise server-side code.
· Ensure the code follows best practices in all areas.
· Collaborate with the team lead and other developers.
· Take full ownership of tasks and projects, managing your workflow effectively and independently.
· Proactively seek clarifications and updates as necessary.
· Accurately estimate the time required for tasks and communicate these estimations clearly to the team and team lead.
· Perform thorough testing on your code before deployment.
· Ensure all updates and fixes are successfully pushed to the production environment, taking personal responsibility for the outcome.
· Take full responsibility for the quality and functionality of your work.
· Regularly update the team and the team lead on your work status.
Qualifications:
· Experience with Python for at least 3 years.
· Strong knowledge of Python Coding and its data-related libraries, ex. Pandas, FastAPI.
· Knowledge of Application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
· Experience with RESTful APIs, Selenium, Git, and bash scripting.
· Preferred: Familiarity with Docker, AWS ECS, AWS Lambda functions.
· Direct experience with AWS Cognito.
· Proficient with the use of pytest.
· Experience in working with API’s and third-party integrations.
· Disciplined approach to testing and code quality.
· Git/Github and CI/CD experience.
· Knowledge of AWS Services and Terraform is a plus.
· Familiar with agile coding methodologies.
