Project Manager (Embedded Systems)

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join a 3-year, EU-funded research project focused on the development of drone and robotic systems for maritime reconnaissance and demining operations.
The role is part-time (15–20% workload) and requires prior experience in managing EU-funded projects as well as a strong understanding of Embedded System Development.

Responsibilities:

• Manage planning, execution, and reporting for an EU-funded R&D project.
• Oversee project deliverables, budgeting, and cost control.
• Coordinate vendor contracts, procurement processes, and resource allocation.
• Ensure smooth collaboration between distributed engineering and software teams.
• Apply Agile and Waterfall methodologies depending on workstream.
• Track project progress, risks, and dependencies, providing regular reports to stakeholders.
• Support integration of engineers and developers into the project scope.

Key Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience managing engineering and software teams, with exposure to Embedded System Development.
• Proven record managing EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe), including reporting and compliance.
• Experience with vendor management, contracts, and procurement cycles.
• Strong background in task and project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
• Hands-on experience with risk management and stakeholder reporting.

Soft Skills & Other

• Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to balance research goals with execution realities.
• Proactive, reliable, and able to make efficient decisions in dynamic environments.
• Based in Europe, with the ability to join Baltic Sea field trials when needed.
• English and Ukrainian on an Advanced level

Nice to Have:

• Technical knowledge of drones, robotics, automated platforms, or AI/ML.
• Experience interviewing, hiring, and onboarding engineers for R&D teams.
