ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Payroll, HR Operations & Automations Lead to coordinate payroll across our international footprint and own core HR Operations across the employee lifecycle. This is a hands-on role, working directly with local payroll providers in each country while also leading a small team.
The mandate goes beyond running payroll accurately. We're looking for someone who can simplify, standardise and automate the way Payroll and HR Operations work across Alpega — reducing manual work, harmonising processes across countries, strengthening controls and data quality, and changing how the function operates.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of Payroll and HR Operations across an international European footprint, while having the mandate to genuinely improve how things work. You’ll be close enough to the detail to make a real difference, but with the scope and autonomy to simplify, standardise and automate processes across countries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take ownership of end-to-end payroll coordination across multiple European countries, partnering closely with local payroll providers.
- Stay hands-on with payroll operations, ensuring strong controls and resolving issues when they arise.
- Oversee key HR Operations processes across the employee lifecycle, from onboarding through to offboarding.
- Lead and coordinate a small Payroll & HR Operations team, providing direction and support while remaining close to the day-to-day.
- Drive the simplification, standardisation, and automation of Payroll and HR Operations processes to reduce manual work and improve efficiency.
- Strengthen payroll governance, data quality and compliance, creating consistent and reliable ways of working across countries.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong multi-year, multi-country European payroll expertise
- Comfortable working hands-on and getting into the detail
- Solid understanding of local payroll compliance and controls
- Experience leading or coordinating a small team
- Track record of fixing and improving processes, not just maintaining them
- Business-fluent English (C1); additional European languages a plus
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience driving payroll or HR Operations automation/systems projects
- Strong stakeholder management across countries and external providers
- Analytical mindset with a focus on data quality and governance
WHAT WE OFFER YOU
- A competitive salary package, with additional legal benefits focused on your well-being, work flexibility, and career growth
- A permanent contract
- Health insurance & Extra allowance
- A hybrid working model: 2 days remote, 3 days in the office.
- 23 days of holidays a year + your birthday day off
- Flexible compensation
- An international working environment, with over 40 nationalities in the Alpega Team
- The opportunity to reshape how Payroll and HR Operations run across a multi-country organisation
