Engineering Manager - Alma Wallet

👐 About the team
The Consumer tribe is working on its 2027 objectives: reducing friction in Alma adoption, increasing consumer lifetime value, and developing services that give consumers more autonomy and control.
To support this roadmap, the current Consumer App squad is being split into two squads: Alma Wallet and Consumer Engagement. You will help shape the Alma Wallet squad, initially composed of around five engineers from the existing Consumer App squad and future hires. Depending on the timing of the split, you may first join the current Consumer App squad.
You will report to Tony and work closely with Justine, Product Manager, to build the Alma Wallet product. Gautier, Engineering Manager, leads the sister Consumer Engagement squad.
This position is a CDI based in Paris, with a hybrid work model.
💼 About the job
- Lead and grow the Alma Wallet squad by supporting engineers’ development, hiring the right profiles and creating an environment where the team can do its best work.
- Build an effective delivery system by improving team processes, rituals and collaboration with Product, Design and the other Consumer squads.
- Deliver a strategic payment roadmap covering the Alma card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, local payment methods, the consumer point-of-sale experience, identity verification and Open Banking.
- Raise the technical bar and protect reliability through code reviews, technical design discussions and a strong focus on the quality and resilience of payment flows.

- Mobile: Expo / EAS, React Native, TypeScript, TanStack Query, Redux Toolkit, Zod, Reanimated, Jest, Detox. Payment SDKs: Adyen, Stripe, Checkout.com.
- Back-end: Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, Redis, Pub/Sub.
- Infra & observability: GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, Datadog, Sentry, OpenFeature.
- Tools: GitHub, Linear, Notion, Figma.
🧩 About you
To succeed in this job
- You have 3+ years of experience managing or leading engineers, including hiring and supporting team development.
- You have strong hands-on technical credibility in mobile or back-end engineering, and are comfortable reviewing code and leading architecture discussions.
- You have experience delivering products in a cross-functional squad with Product and Design.
- You are fluent in both French and English.
And it will be nice if you also
- Have experience in fintech or another regulated environment.
- Have worked with payment methods, payment service providers or PSP SDK integrations.
- Have contributed to a consumer mobile application used at scale.
- Have mobile engineering experience, ideally with React Native.

🎯 Interview Process
- Video screen with Sara, Talent Acquisition Manager — 30–45 minutes to discuss your experience, motivation and the role.
- Experience interview with Tony Miksa, Hiring Manager — 45 minutes to explore your management experience, technical background and fit with the team.
- Coding test with a Software Engineering interviewer — 45–90 minutes, depending on your main programming language.
- System design interview with a Staff Engineer interviewer — 60 minutes to discuss architecture, technical trade-offs and reliability.
- Coffee chat with members of the Consumer tribe — 60 minutes with a combination of Product and Engineering team members.
- Reference checks — two professional references.
