About the company
ADRobotics is building a new venture focused on next-generation robotics, developing intelligent service robots that operate safely and efficiently in human environments. Backed by a strong institutional platform and supported by a leading incubator, the venture aims to improve productivity, safety, and efficiency across high-impact industries through the deployment of versatile robotic solutions.
About the role
We're hiring a Senior Assembly Technician to perform advanced mechanical, electrical, and electronics assembly of robotic components and subassemblies, and to train and mentor Junior Assembly Technicians, for ADRobotics.
This role is responsible for building and troubleshooting more complex subassemblies, performing in-depth quality checks, and acting as the go-to, hands-on resource on the line for junior technicians, working under the direction of the Production Lead and in coordination with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality.
You will combine strong hands-on build skills with the ability to explain, demonstrate, and coach, helping bring Junior Assembly Technicians up to full proficiency safely and consistently.
Key responsibilities:
- Assemble and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and electronics subassemblies per standard work instructions, BOMs, and engineering drawings, including build steps too complex or sensitive for junior technicians.
- Train, mentor, and sign off Junior Assembly Technicians ('runners') on standard work, tool use, ESD handling, and quality checks; act as first point of escalation for their build questions.
- Perform in-depth visual, functional, and electrical checks (e.g., wiring/connector verification, basic continuity/function checks) to confirm build quality beyond basic visual inspection.
- Identify and diagnose assembly defects, connector/wiring issues, or fit problems, and either correct them or escalate to Manufacturing Engineering/Quality with a clear description of the issue.
- Use hand, power, and precision tools (torque drivers, crimping tools, basic test equipment) correctly and train others in their safe use.
- Support process improvement by flagging unclear work instructions, recurring defects, or line balance issues to the Production Lead and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Assist with kitting, parts staging, and inventory/cycle counts, and help coordinate line-side material flow with the Storekeeper.
- Maintain and enforce 5S and safety standards on the line, including for the junior technicians being trained.
- Complete and review assembly checklists/documentation, including sign-off on work performed by trainees where applicable.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of production/assembly-line experience, including mechanical, electrical, and electronics assembly, preferably in a manufacturing, hardware, or start-up/scale-up environment; automotive assembly experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience training, mentoring, or informally leading junior technicians on the floor.
- Strong familiarity with hand and power tools, and working knowledge of basic electrical/electronics assembly (wiring, connectors, crimping) and ESD handling procedures.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose and describe assembly defects clearly.
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions.
- Ability to lift 25-35 lbs and stand, bend, and perform repetitive motions.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, early-stage, or scaling business environment, and patient enough to coach less experienced technicians.
Education and certifications:
- High school diploma/GED required; technical diploma/certificate in automotive, electromechanical, or electronics technology preferred.
- Prior formal or informal training/mentoring experience considered an advantage.
- Basic computer literacy for completing and reviewing digital checklists/documentation.
Work environment & physical requirements:
- Manufacturing/production floor setting; PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, closed-toe shoes).
- Standard shifts with occasional overtime.
- Standing, repetitive motion, and occasional lifting/carrying (25-35 lbs), while also supervising/training alongside the bench.
