Join ABBYY and be part of a team that celebrates your unique work style. With flexible work options, a supportive team, and rewards that reflect your value, you can focus on what matters most – driving your growth, while fueling ours.

Our commitment to respect, transparency, and simplicity means you can trust us to always choose to do the right thing.

As a trusted partner for purpose-built AI and intelligent automation, we solve highly complex problems for our enterprise customers and put their information to work to transform the way they do business. Over 10,000 customers trust ABBYY, including many Fortune 500 ones. You will work on further developing a portfolio already containing client names such as DHL, Johnson & Johnson, FDA, DMV, PwC, KeyBank, Spotify, and H&R BLOCK.

ABBYY Vantage is our flagship Document AI platform – a cloud-native, microservices-based product that combines purpose-built AI, OCR, NLP, and direct LLM integration to help enterprise customers extract, classify, and act on data from any document. Vantage 3.0, our latest release, introduces native Azure OpenAI integration, enterprise-grade compliance and redaction, a real-time analytics dashboard, and a growing library of pre-configured AI skills. Over 10,000 customers trust ABBYY – including Fortune 500 companies like DHL, Johnson & Johnson, FDA, PwC, KeyBank, Spotify, and H&R Block – to automate their most complex document workflows.

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Principal Software Engineer to take end-to-end technical ownership of core Vantage platform capabilities. You will be deeply hands-on – designing, building, and shipping the systems that power ABBYY's Document AI – while also serving as a technical authority who raises the quality bar across the full product. If you thrive at the intersection of complex distributed systems, AI-native architecture, and enterprise-grade reliability, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End D:evelopment: Own the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of major Vantage platform features and services – from document processing and AI skill orchestration to LLM integration and compliance infrastructure.
  • Quality Ownership: Ensure high code quality, performance, and maintainability across the Vantage codebase through rigorous code reviews, automated testing strategies, performance monitoring, and architectural guidance.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with product management, ML engineering, cloud architecture, and UX teams to define and deliver capabilities that meet enterprise customer and compliance requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and drive improvements to Vantage's services, infrastructure, and development processes; own initiatives that reduce COGS, eliminate technical debt, and accelerate delivery.
  • System Reliability: Monitor the reliability and performance of Vantage cloud services; lead resolution of critical incidents and drive systemic improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Technical Innovation: Evaluate emerging technologies – including advances in GenAI, purpose-built Document AI models, and cloud-native tooling – and translate them into concrete improvements for the Vantage platform.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10–13 years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in C# and .NET
  • Scope of responsibility: Full Product – accountable for technical quality and architectural integrity across the entire Vantage platform
  • Experience mentoring Senior Engineers, Principal Engineers, and Engineering Managers; recognized as a technical authority within a product organization
  • Code Quality & Architecture: Demonstrated experience delivering cloud-native SaaS products on Microsoft Azure, including containerized microservices on AKS, event-driven architecture, and API-first design
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems across distributed systems and design scalable, maintainable solutions
  • Experience with compliance-driven engineering in regulated environments (SOC 2, GDPR, FIPS, STIG, or ISO frameworks)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ownership Mindset: Passion for end-to-end ownership of Document AI features – from OCR and extraction accuracy to LLM-based enrichment and human-in-the-loop validation workflows
  • Performance & Optimization: Experience profiling and optimizing high-throughput document processing services for latency, throughput, and cost at scale
  • Hands-on familiarity with Azure OpenAI, LLM prompt engineering, or BYOM (Bring Your Own Model) integration patterns
  • Collaboration Skills: Comfortable working across a collaborative, Agile environment with cross-functional teams in a globally distributed organization

Here are some of our local benefits:

  • Partial compensation for glasses and lenses
  • Private health insurance
  • Volunteering Time Off (2 days/ year)
  • SZÉP Card for recreational activities
  • 3 extra days/ month for 'sick leave' without doctors visit
